Medical Billing Specialist - Hunt Valley Location


The Medical Billing Specialist will be knowledgeable of all facets of medical billing and accounts receivable management including charge entry, payment posting, customer service and follow-up in accordance with practice protocol with an emphasis on maximizing patient satisfaction and practice profitability. The Medical Billing Analyst will have the experience and ability to manage patient service calls, determine quality of vendor work, and provide feedback to all involved in the drchrono RCM process.    

In this role you will...

  • Be the first point of contact for all patient calls regarding billing statements and payment issues for specified clients.  Research, follow-up, and delegation of necessary actions to resolve the matter
  • Perform account auditing of work done by offshore vendors, meet with off-shore vendors to review audit findings, and train off-shore vendors on new protocols and processes
  • Project work for clients in a range of specialties as needed to include account follow up work, payment posting, and analysis of full revenue cycle process
  • Assist in the writing of practice and company specific protocols and processes
  • Assist in the development of reporting needed to analyze a client account
  • Provide information pertaining to billing, coding, managed care networks, insurance carriers and reimbursement to Account Manager, Executive team, or clients as needed
  • Attend relevant seminars to remain abreast of current issues regarding revenue cycle management, Medicare Compliance and HIPAA
  • Monitor the supply and quality of forms, envelopes and supplies as required to perform job functions.
  • Be proficient with all facets of the drchrono software
  • Be proficient with clearinghouse technology, a web-based program for eligibility verification, claim submission, and claim status, to efficiently conduct accounts receivable follow-up and to maximize revenue.
  • Maintain a organized, efficient and professional work environment.
  • Adhere to all practice policies related to OSHA, HIPAA and Medicare Compliance.  

You have...

  • 1-2 years in a genuine medical billing experience, medical biller role ( dental and hospital billing are also ok )
  • A good understanding of SNOMED CT, ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT codes and modifier codes
  • A good understanding of the current Medicare Compliance, OSHA, and HIPAA regulations      
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Billing software
  • Worked with HCFA 1500 forms
  • Experience doing eligibility checks
  • Experience dealing with claims and claim rejections
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • A passion for healthcare
